my grip is slipping...i'm starting to let go

words have not been my thing lately. i LOVE to write and yet nothing comes out. i'm trying to remember that this happens and it will come back to me. in the meantime i'm reading books...and letting go seems to be the theme. here are some quotes that i found to be fitting...

People have a hard time letting go of their suffering. Out of a fear of the unknown, they prefer suffering that is familiar.
-- Thich Nhat Hanh

Let go. Why do you cling to pain? There is nothing you can do about the wrongs of yesterday. It is not yours to judge. Why hold on to the very thing which keeps you fromhope and love?
-- Leo Buscaglia

Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.

wannabe graffiti under the bridge

i do not condone tagging or vandalizing property. i do however enjoy graffiti when it serves an artistic purpose.
this was just a bunch of random swirls and some fun colors mixed around by some immature amateurs who apparently love boobies...

our deepest fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine.

i am looking for studies that show the human brain will go to mush when exposed to too much stress. the other day i tried to write a sentence and for the life of me could not figure out if the words i was using were even appropriate. their definitions eluded me. it scared me a little. not like i haven't had cloudy brained days before but they have been more common than a cold as of late. it makes me not want to socialize for fear of sounding dumb, not to mention the deer in the headlights face i express when trying to piece together what someone is saying.
change can be hard...although i normally handle it well.
but maybe this time i just need some time off...some time to rest my brain.

wafflepalooza inspiration

poster by stephen mccarthy

some of you may have heard me talk about wafflepalooza. and most have laughed. but this idea came to me in march and i haven't stopped daydreaming about it since. of course, no event is official unless there is a initial design had waffles on it-big surprise! but the "waffle poster" just wasn't working for me; then i stumbled across this image and was hooked. it just seems to say "party" and that is what wafflepalooza is going to be!
with the help of my dear friend, we were able to mock the lollapalooza font and edit a few things...and i love it!!!
now i just need to send out the invite!

thanks chris!!!

the future is now

eve from wall-e/image found on web

i really love the movie wall-e
for many of them being EVE which stands for Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator. just a random tid bit.
if she could drink a pepsi, she would be cind-EVE crawford. she is a robot supermodel--only cooler.
but that's not what i first thought of her...when she nearly killed off poor wall-e (the sweetest animated character ever!) i thought who is this snotty "thinks she is angelina jolie" robot?
but it wasn't too long before i was wishing i could hang out with her...ha ha! maybe eve and emilee could be besties? ha ha!
on a semi unrelated note, although i already have my halloween costume figured out, it would be fun to go as EVE sometime. pretty easy to do--minus the being a robot part!

anyway, i really love this poster

green patterns

today it rained-for most of the day
and the gloom sort of got to me
but then i remembered a few pictures taken right before the sun came out and actually stayed awhile.
yes, it's true. in order for me to be surrounded by so much green
i have to live beneath a leaky faucet sky
let's just hope i acclimate soon
or i will have to hitchhike my way to the sun
